In response to Why English-speaking people conquering ze werld! (Jean Jacques Croissant)
US economy: 10 Trillion USD
# of English speakers (L1)worldwide: 1.2 Billion (at least) counting India.
It only makes sense to learn English before learning French. Learning English will allow me to go all over the world and work. Learning French will allow me to go work in Montreal. Oh boy.
