Actually Windows based programmes can be run in Linux O/S machines by using Wine from http://www.winehq.org/
I believe this is the same programme thats allows Windows stuff to work on Apple Mac machines.
Quite so, Mike, a good bit of information from you. Here is, for example, QQIntl running quite merrily on Linux; which is the only programme I use wine for, there being debian versions for, skype, google-earth et ceteras. I use Linux because Windoze is a bit dozy, slow, and too vulnerable to nasties, and best left to the unsoaped hahaha
