I do think that people who come to China to work and have the eventual bad experience can end up becoming better people because of it. Opening your mind up to learning about your own character can lead to self improvement. Of course, they can also devolve into something worse, such as the pretend "teachers" who try and rationalize the bad stuff away as just being a part of the local culture, which in translation somehow makes it justifiable to like and defend the place even more than before.

The bottom line is: No matter what qualifications you have, you can talk about your experience so long as you are being honest. Even if you do not have all those degrees, you are not any less intelligent and should not feel as if you do not have a right to speak out about the negative things which happen in the ESL world. Anyone who has tried making the qualifications thing an issue in the past should know that they need to only be taken seriously if they are in fact THE Moral Authority in the ESL world, which nobody is. Something to think about.
