I say the directors got their just desserts. Most Chinese EFL employers almost always prefer employing female FTs to male FTs, especially blonde laowai females!. This discrimination has been going on in the PRC since the early nineties of last century.

The Chinese employers are out of line too, all be it in the 1st place. I have no sympathy for them. Haha ha!
