A hotel room, for example, is commonly called 房間 fangjian. 單人房 danrenfang thus means single room. But obviously, there are other words for room in Chinese as well, for example a 教室 jiaoshi is a classroom.

That's okay but nothing to do with the dispute- but good, well done, we all must learn. A little tip for you though. If you do not have the means to add the tonal indicators you can do this, and I will give you the example on another word for single room- dan1 ren2 jian1. Saves any confusion, doesn't it?
