You are correct, if a little one sided! Turnoi makes it just as much about me and others with his incessant insults and fallacious posts, it is easy to get sucked in to responding, especially when it's about you!

For my part I will attempt to ignore him from now on unless it's something relevant to the topic. Any more insults or aspersions about me personally I shall do my best to ignore, although for their part I would like to see the mods on this site stop allowing through his posts that are purely attacks on me and my character, or anyone for that matter.

As for the 5 year rule, I think that's a great step forward, but not nearly enough to stem the tide of tourist-teachers that flock to China. You can have 5 years experience of doing very little teaching and a lot of socialising and you would still get through this net.

If the 5 years experience were outside of China, this may produce better results, but there is still more that could be done, such as an official regulatory body (not Chinese, so not open as much to the possibility of corruption), for example English or American inspectors from Cambridge ESOL or another such body, it would take a lot of work, but it's the only way I believe teaching standards in China will ever get better. But as I said, it is wonderful to see they have accepted and recognised the problem and are taking steps to correct it.
