Whenever permitted, Chinese university students use their cellphones to take pictures of PowerPoint presentations, blackboard writing and even distributed documents.
They write down what they are told to write down uniformly. So, most notes are identical, carbon copy of the black/white boards or Powerpoint slides. Critical thinking is nonexistent; rote memorization is the way to Chinese success.
Hello,
Could anyone who has experience teaching in China (any subject), tell me if there is a standard method of note taking? If so, what is the method? I am an Aviation English teacher charged with the task of helping to train Chinese pilot cadets in note taking techniques, so that they are better prepared for the classroom lectures upon arrival here in the United States. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
