Sending Money - Teachers Discussion

Western Union is often the best (fastest, easiest, cheapest, safest) option but not the only one. Note that at least last I heard, Western Union could send money to a PERSON, not an ACCOUNT...

You can also do a direct wire transfer at your nearest provincial-level Bank of China. The money goes right into an account, but this process can be made much longer, more difficult, and more expensive than Western Union. You'll need detailed info about the receiving bank, account, and person in addition to your own passport and residence permit/visa.

Given the choice, Western Union is infinitely better. But you do have this other option through Bank of China.

Trandferring funds to UK - Teachers Discussion

Can anybody help. I am working in China for the next year and need to send money to my UK bank on a monthly basis. I am confused by what seem to be my limited options. Does anybody have experience with this? I have a Chinese bank account but is Western Union my only option? Please advise!!! :?
