Much of the United States agricultural industry is built upon immigrant labor, originally mostly Mexican but now many from Eastern Europe, that is allowed into the country on short-term visas to harvest seasonal crops. They are denied a pathway to citizenship and are not entitled to the social benefits of healthcare, education and social security.
