Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

Ignoring all of the other topics in thread, the pay scale is fairly out of whack by many here.

If you are a TEACHER, major city, then your salary should be 15k to 20k per month. Bigger coastal cities will not pay your flat, so that costs depending on where you are.

TC can pay more, privates big city pay more if you can coord the commutes. Unis pay poorly all over China.

If you are a MANAGER, major city, hired in from outside China, foreigner, then 30k per month as the barest minmum.

If you are a DIRECTOR, major city, signature authority (read on, not trivial), foreigner, then 50k to 100k per month as the barest of minimums, plus relocation, nice tower flat, and possibly a driver.

If you are in SHIPPING or SUPPLY CHAIN, major port city, foreigner, then 100k to 250k per month and all max perqs.

Keep in mind you masters of the universe MNC Director and D-level or C-level asian placements, Big 4, Auditors, efc pulling down 100k+ CNY a month; that in the PRC "signature authority" has as of late meant that you go to prison for ten years when the inevitable police investigation occurs and HQ will throw you to the wolves. All of your money will be seized and used to power cutter dredgers, and your family will be lucky to leave. You will be fortunate to survive 10 years in Chinese prison, and no one will know where your physical location is. If you live, you get deported upon sentence completion with a 'never to return' stamp in your passport.

As to telling Chinese how to run their country, China should do the same with neighboring countries like the PHillipines, Vietnam, TAIWAN, and Korea. It's incredible how China bullies and intimidates its neigbors to do what it wants.

I don't know what you mean. Please clarify. Thank you.

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

Absolutely right. An ex-student of mine does not want to leave Canada, to return to China. She also said the same lots of Chinese are leaving China also.

Taiwan is an independent country with it's own laws, flag, army, police, and government as far as I am concerned. I don't give a flying monkey jizz what the student of some peasant family from Guangdong thinks, what does he know anyway? Taiwan is a free country.....

Vietnam, well you alienate a fellow socialist country, way to go, China!!!! Jiayou!!!

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

For Wang: Reading most of the stuff people write on this site might make you think that. But rest assured that many and probably the majority of expat teachers in China think it is an awesome and beautiful place. Most everyone I knew there chose China because they admired something about it, language, history (not Mao of course), unique culture, etc.

Having said that, working with Chinese people as someone from the west does entail a lot of challenges. So maybe you are hearing us vent about that too much. It's just part of how we cope and adjust to life in a new place. Try not to take it to heart.

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

For being discriminated, milions upon millions of Chinese are leaving this hell hole for other places because our countries allow them to. By last count 40,000,000 CHinese naitionals live abroad while less than one-million foreigners live in China.

Yes you need a lot of money to be president, but less money to run for other offices like mayor or even for state office. Chinese people are very much a part of this.

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

The crap we get here in China as foreigners from the west is that we can't become citizens despite working and living in Chima for years and years, even though we may have Chinese spouses! With the proviso that we must be a real local hero to get a Chinese passport! That is big crap!

Agreed. Even Bill Gates could not get a green card. If even a millionaire and a philanthropist cannot qualify, then god knows what you have to do? 10 Chinese wives, and a 100 years living in the country.....I bet they would say that is not enough even!!!

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

You don't travel much do you! CHinese immigrants were treated badly 100 years ago, but now. Chinese people are very well educated and accepted into the business and political life of the USA. Already in some universities in the USA we have so many Chinese students and Chinese-American students that they make up the biggest minority. Get off your bandwagon that the Chinese are the victims everywhere. At least in our countries you can become citizens and run for office. In China, we foreigners don't get crap.

#12 Parent ai - 2015-06-09
Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

This are the same people who treat chinese immigrants-all immigrants and minorities like garbage in their country and want to lecture chinese how to treat others.

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

Why they move to Asia.

Because:

.most are unemployable and rejectees back home, their own country doesn't like them
.most can't find a woman back home not even a 100 year old one
.drinking problems and some have drugs problems and anger problems
.they think they are victims of the world
.They think they are going to be more important in China.Asia

These same tired insults being trotted out again? Where are Chinese people fed this script from?

I am usually the first to get frustrated and disgusted with my fellow foreign teachers, but even I must say that these things are only rarely true.

People go abroad to teach for adventure, to earn money and to expand their horizons. Just like all foreign workers, all over the world, in all the history of the world!!!! Stop repeating your inaccuracies, you really sound so ignorant.

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

Why do you think that, could you explain? In my experience it is not true.

#16 Parent Caring - 2015-06-06
Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

NOOO, they move to China because they are "INVITED" by exploitative local employers who have to follow the red party's guidelines. Most local employers and their management staff are usually dull in the field they make money in; loyalty is more important than talent, skills or experience in the country. Anyhow, regardless foreign teachers' abilities or their educational background, they are welcome in China to give local students anything but true education for a very good reason..

Re (foreign teachers in China) dont respect chinese

No, for really qualified teachers, it should be between 30,000 - 60,000 RMB a month, depending on qualification an work experience.

If you believe that foreign teachers have it bad, just look at how Chinese bosses treat their local staff, you will change your mind.

coz they think they should be paid 50,000 yuan a month for their great services to Chinese students.

Yes, some of them, but 15000-20000 would be more realistic.
