Reporting you to the police means shooting themselves in the foot for hiring illegal foreigners.

Let them know that you contacted your embassy about the passport issue and that higher authorities than the cheap high school dropouts that they call local cops have been put onto the case.

Holding your passport for any length of time other than visa renewal (~1 week) is a serious breach of Chinese law.

Iam really in alot of trouble here. I came to work at taizhou bilingual school to replace a teacher who recently left. They promised me a visa and accommodation and even though they took my passport I have yet to be paid in almost two months. The school told me if I complain the they will report me to the police. I don't know what to do please help.
