Those types of construction jobs have union protection. I don't know about other countries but in the USA union jobs are some of the best. One of my former bosses had a next door neighbor who had a shitty work record by being absent 17 times from work. But they couldn't fire him due to union protection until he finally found the time to be absent for the 18th time. This I think the absences happened all within a span of 1 year. People who do maitenance jobs have told me they can skip town for a month at a time if they don't feel like taking crap from their boss. Countries like China who pride themselves on socialism have got nothing on the socialist style unions that seem to permeate the west these days. Those evil capitalists from the west always seem to treat their workers better on a whole than what any developing country could muster up.
