Hard Road - Teachers Discussion

Hey Sijo,

It can be done but you've got your work cut out for you...especially in a place like Shanghai that has foreigners stacked like cordwood now.

You can find a job, but it will take a while and I'm afraid there's a good chance you may be fishing the bottom in terms of job quality and salary. Good jobs want either experience or education or both.

You may have better prospects if you get out of Shanghai and try your luck in the smaller cities, where a foreign face still often carries a premium.

Questions on Teaching Jobs - Teachers Discussion

Hi there, i've just arrived in Shanghai and wld like to kick off my long term stay with a job teaching english as i was told that its easy to get one. I am from England, and do not have any teaching related certificates nor teaching experience nor a uni degree. What are my possibilities of getting a job here? Will i be able to get a job with kindergartens etc? I am open to either Part or Full position. What are the possible options available for me?

Any information i can get is highly appreciated. Thanks a million!

Sijo
