Keeping the borders open, a country (ies) can make political statements; EU was built on such practices prior to and after the iron curtain fall. In the case of Middle East/Syria, immigrants are the “show of political wrongdoing” in the region where they come from. Those people, whom you are referring to as “barbarians”, are the so called proof that it is right to, by any means, change the political system in the nation(s) from where the immigrants are from. Having said that, however, I doubt some, or perhaps many, of those asylum seekers are the true cases of some unfortunate people from the region(s). I wouldn’t be surprised if many of those sad people were encouraged somewhat psychologically, or even financially, to appear in EU for the sake of the change in, say for example, Syria to which the west (US in particular) have invested plenty of interest. Imagine, hypothetically, that a few million dollars goes to those “barbarians” even before they depart their homes just to get Assad, whom American government wants so badly, out of his office. What’s extremely dangerous here is that EU may be accepting some of the most horrifying terrorists of the new era that have been financed by the American tax payers; no need to go as far as to the times of Osama bin Laden since ISIS has been one of similar examples from the very recent history. Anyhow, let’s wait and see how this situation turns out and hope that this will result in neither new terrorist attacks in EU/US nor the German right wing Nazi resurrection.
