The increasing Russian military presence in Syria isn't my wish but fact as after the downed jet Putin's sent plenty more to protect his war planes. Had the west not created ISIL and had it had guts to bomb them and their oil long ago, Russians would probably not have landed in Assad's nation to protect him, would they? But EU and the US had to close their eyes on Erdogan's cheap black oil market out of ISIL fields and reward him with an entry to EU (soon). Anyhow, this is "duma" speaking as "Russian boots" are washed in the oil that was supposed to be illegally sold to developed nations.
In the end, Russia will not only settle in Syria but also bring in all the necessary military hardware to aim at countries around as it has some valid excuses to do so now.
This fits in with the bombastic russian duma MP and head of the liberal democrats of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovskys thinking, Russian soldiers washing their boots in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, or the push south. They want to prevent ISIS from taking hold in the Caucasus/Central Asia (it sees this region as it's backyard and zone of influence), and thus posing a threat to the russian border itself.
The conflict truly is about oil; the only one who bombed oil there is the Czar. Sultan's been taking advantage of the cheap ISIL oil and other nations that wish to fight Assad have "suspiciously" spared the oil there.
What the war regrettably isn't about to the west is the Christians that Syria has unlike other nations in the region. Women, for example, aren't looked down there as they are in Saudi Arabia which enjoys such a fine western support.
Sadly enough, the Czar's oppressive regime seems the only one in the world now that cares about people there. How could the west have made him look so good is beyond the words.
In the end, Russia will not only settle in Syria but also bring in all the necessary military hardware to aim at countries around as it has some valid excuses to do so now. Attempting to make the region safer than before, the west has created a ticking bomb there instead.
