There's nothing new in this scurrying off into other languages, if somebody makes an error in English and won't admit to to it. i am afraid you have to face up to it, a word like for example 'professor' in English has a different meaning than the French type. Even you and me may qualify to be addressed by the latter. As far as the English are concerned there is only one meaning for 'libertine' and not necessary to concern ourselves what others may mean by a similarly spelled word.
