Stay away from this absolute rip off school. They are the lowest paying outfit in all of China. And the cost of living in Yangshuo is much higher than in other rural areas.
Studying Chinese at Omeida is also a very bad idea. English is everywhere in Yangshuo and you don't need Chinese to get around the town. There are so many foreigners in Yangshuo that you will never really use Chinese much. And the tuition at Omeida is several times higher than at other private schools in China.
I worked for Omeida teaching English for a year in 2014 and 2015 It was horrible. Terrible shared accommodations, no vacations, very low pay (not enough to cover living expenses), and hordes of foreigners everywhere in town. This is not the real China. Perhaps that is why so many foreigners like it........it is not an authentic Chinese experience.
The boss of Omeida is so incredibly cheap and he doesn't give a fig about you. It is all about the money.......money for him that is. I talked to teachers who had stayed there for years because they like the life in Yangshuo and they all gave me the same reason when I asked them why they were finally leaving........the salary is far too low.

I have been working at Omeida Language College for 4 years from September of 2011. I'm working at the Chinese Academy teaching Mandarin for non-native speakers.
As I see from the past 4 years, Omeida is making progress every year for both the students (Chinese and foreign student) and her staff (both Chinese and foreign staff).
I my eyes, Omeida is a big family provides a very nice platform for every one to meet with different people from different countries with different backgrounds.
I enjoyed very much my job here, but I agree that not every one is happy with every aspect of the work and study here.
Some with big cultural shock from the very beginning of their time here, others are able to cape very well with the problems and quickly make a lot of friends.
I must say that the boss of Omeida, Mr.Odar, is a very open-minded man who are willing to hear suggestions from different people and likes to make improvements.
I feel lucky to be a member of Omeida and would share more reviews with whoever has the plan to work or study in Yangshuo in the future.

I've read some older bad reviews about Omeida Language College in Yangshuo, from a few regular posters on this forum.
Can anyone with more recent new experiences teaching, or know of people who are or have taught at this school, provide some feedback?
Has this place improved?
Looking at the school's website, they seem to teach Chinese as well as English and have many activities. All looks professional and inviting.
Please post comments of real experiences from this school.
