CELTA is a 4-5 week intensive course aimed at people new to teaching and wanting to specialise in teaching English to adults. It is a beginners course, although there were four qualified teachers on my course. Cambridge does not claim to turn out seasoned professionals on this course - that comes from direct experience in teaching.

I agree experience comes from teaching. My only concern with the CELTA and the subsequent DELTA is that it is a cash cow. I wanted to do the CELTA in a E.U. country many years back, now I am glad I saved myself the cash and the hassle. Noone deserves to be sneered at by arrogant individuals, who can fail you, and still keep the money you paid. Who decides if you pass and fail, and what is the criteria as to what constitutes "classroom management", another bite these inty types like to throw out, despite not teaching themselves oft times!!!!!!!
