Kids in primary and secondary schools routinely learn discipline and/or how to be obedient soldiers. More than that, I've seen in a few schools pics of Chinese miliraty, its equipment and even some actual chemical suits in closets. Somehow, I believe the trend assists employers to keep their workforce on a leash, so that the bosses and leaders can do whatever they wish.
A university student without independent thought 独立思考的能力 is like a soldier without a gun. Defenseless 无防御能力.
