That habit of sharing food, while benign and well meant in intent, I do find personally off putting. But I did notice post SARS more use of serving chopsticks and on raising protest less dipping of chopsticks. I actually enjoyed one restaurant in Inner Mongolia, where each diner had their own small hotpot each to dunk their choice of veggies and lamb slices into, as opposed to one communal hotpot for all and sundry to dip into.

I went to the doctor and was advised to be more careful than Malaysia, but common sense is the main factor I feel, such as making sure all water is boiled and so on.
