Re The Whinging Pom

No worries, and I am sorry if my post came across confrontational.

I do remember some years back some Brits got outraged at pom being used on an advert on aussie TV, lol, the tv station in question told them to get f***ed, lol

Cheers,
SMGS

Re The Whinging Pom

Cheers CM - I guess that kind of makes sense lol

I always knew it was short for pomegranate but never quite believed the 'imme-granate' thing

Cheers again

Re The Whinging Pom

No truth in the story then that we stood out as new arrivals because our skin turned red....pomegranate red? Hence pom?

Re The Whinging Pom

And WHAT do you consider the origins of 'POM'?

Before you say 'Prisoner of Mother England' or it is mis-spelt POHM (prisoner of her majesty) etc etc, it's all fallacy and myth
Pom is supposed to be short for pomegranate because, according to the Aussies. pomegranate rhymes with immigrant (imme-granate
Which is probably why the Aussies never produced any GOOD poets lol

Re The Whinging Pom

CL,I trust that the OP knows and understands the true origins of POM and how it does not relate to anyone currently in the UK now?
