Personally, I don't give a shit about the parents in that regard. They are paying to send their kids to our school, and by doing so they are accepting and trusting the teachers to do their job.

However, it is a common 'excuse' used by our bosses - 'Ooh, you must use the text book or the parents will complain.'

Then when it comes to exam time, they say that the kids need to review from the text book, so this is another reason that we should teach from it.

I have a much simpler method. I just ask the kids to give me their e-mail address and then e-mail them any requested PPT's in order to help them revise.

Certainly don't see any parents complaining about that!
