Degrees can be verified simply. In many US states its public information and even listed on some university websites are graduates names. yet China does not check work history, verify degrees or do any backgrounds checks. If fact many cities you can submit a photocopy of a degree to the authorities. But you need a reference letter from you last Chinese boss to get a new job or you will have to fly home. This sums it all up. This place is full of bravado but if this little man really believes he is part of a modern developed civilization with rule of law and workers rights he is delusional.

You and your followers make the eslteachersboard an unreliable source of information "unfortunately". The crying ones are your left and right hands with a bunch of funny names to post under. Anyhow, do not worry as you are "qualified" to post here.

Do your research: contact public employers directly. Shun recruiters. Make sure you arrive in
China with a Z visa in hand.

..............and stay well-clear of private language schools !

If you are considering teaching in China, in a University or a public High School, there are more opportunities than ever for qualified native English speakers who are interested in teaching ESL.

Many foreign teachers of the last decade have left China because they do not qualify under the new regulations. They are not pleased. Their dissatisfaction for being unable to teach in China is often voiced on this forum.

Unfortunately, there are now also thousands of private language schools that cannot attract qualified teachers. More than ever before, they and their contingency recruiters are actively misrepresenting their positions and the requirements necessary to teach in China. They too clog this forum with their misinformation.

Do your research: contact public employers directly. Shun recruiters. Make sure you arrive in China with a Z visa in hand.

Ignore the gnashing of teeth and the old-school FT howling on this forum.
