we think bigger is vulgar

Your chinese wife must be one of the rare minority. Most new rich Chinese seem to think bigger is better, I often wonder if it is over compensating. That said, a bigger tv is better for web surfing, watching downloaded/streaming videos and the newer 4k ones even make a dvd like blu ray. Not something to be upgraded each year I suppose, but bought and replaced/traded in when you fancy a newer model, or your old one is on the way out I suppose.
