I have heard similar in Taiwan. It might not be possible in Taipei, like any big asian city, perhaps too many materialistic women there obsessed with superficial things. But from what a Taiwanese girl who I talked with told me, the view generally seems to be, I have a white boyfriend from Aus/Europe/USA, is cool, or better than local taiwanese guy, more room for the imagination and so on.
