I thought maybe it was a form of control to prevent us doing a runner but it seems from what
I have read elsewhere that nowadays there are other parts to the process so it is not
really of use to the FT to pull that stunt.
'Runners' in China are like virginity now; it only happens once.
If you run from a FEC, whether its in your hand or not, that data is entered into the system.
After that you can only work illegally.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I don't have a problem signing the paper to this effect. I was just wondering if anyone has had this similar stance taken by their employers this year? To be honest the only time I have had need for the book is for financial transactions. The RP in my passport seems to be the most important thing.
I also just found a thread on Daves about this same matter, it does seem to be becoming widespread as others have asked the same question.
