Housing is usually free, so that's a big bonus. I doubt you'll have a car to pay for. What does that leave you with? Food, clothes, booze, bargirls, booze for bargirls, massage parlors, bargirls in massage parlors, scams, staying in four star hotels when you go out of town on holiday. But mostly scams involving booze for bargirls in massage parlors.
Have you ever been to New York? Shanghai is often described being like New York, but with about a dozen more Chinese people.
Cash. Once a month. In an envelope. Count it. Twice.
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to the general cost of living in Shanghai, relative to the salaries there. It seems that some jobs pay a little more there; is it still possible to live well there? Anyone willing to divulge how much they spend on living expeses per month? I know that how much one spends is very individual, but I wonder of people end up spending all of their salary even if they intend to save a bit on the side.
Also, I am wondering what is common in China in terms of payment of salary. Do employers do 'direct deposit' or is it common to get paid in cash?
Thanks.
