Yeah, Turnoi, regarding the plight of Chinese teachers, I am quite aware that in many ways they have it much worse than foreign teachers do (but not in every way).

That is why when I work in places (training schools come to mind) where I think my Chinese colleagues are not treated well, I am very careful about how I address these concerns.

I would never want my actions to bring more trouble for them. Therefore, I ask them to tell me what is the best way to help them in a seemingly unfair situation. Sometimes they will offer a concrete, pro-active suggestion; but more often than not, they ask me not to intervene; and I always respect that request.
