Re: Yuming Education

Oy! Once I stopped laughing, I decided to take a second gander at this Chinglish mess.

Highlights:

- "individual people who owned personal purpose" Any profit in that? I might try marketing a few of my personal purposes!

- "We have already hold a throughing investigate this event." Performed with the usual level of YuMing integrity no doubt!

and my favorite:
- "legal team and the whole member of Yuming" Eek! Whose 'whole member'? Aren't there statutes-against such lewd, lascivious, and wanton threats?"

One really funny thing I have noticed after reading this very well put together statement from their, ehm, legal team. The fact that they talk about an individual, and also say 'his'.

So they are assuming its one particular person, I have seen these posted a few places now. The thing is, what is it about the posts being put up that lead them to believe it's a particular person in the first place. They have clearly read the details and drawn parallels from one teachers time working for them, which basically says that the comments are true, for if they were lies, how would they be able to determine exactly who it was :)

I never worked for Yuming but did go for an interview there once, can't remember the name of the person I spoke to, she was an oldish woman with short hair. What I do remember however were the unanswered questions and attempts to change the subject when I asked about something they clearly did not want to discuss.

I asked about the holidays as I had seen an ad which stated they pay holiday allowance. She really seemed to have no idea what I was talking about and started talking about teaching camps, when I asked where they were and if I could possibly visit one to get a better idea of the working environment, as this was during the summer holidays, she could not tell me and proceeded to start talking about something else. Everytime I brought the matter back up it was deflected onto something else. The entire thing stank to high heaven of a rouge operation and having been teaching in China for many years already, decided to leg it, screaming. I got a number of calls for a few days afterwards which I didn't answer, and I have heard many many stories from people I have met and worked with around the city that they are not to be trusted at all.

I have also heard that they used to go by another name many years ago and were equally as crap back then, so I can only assume that the change in name was to try and hide from their past. I was also told that they shift offices from time to time too. The one that I went to near Nanjing Lu is apparently a satellite office that they can move very easily if need be. their real office is elsewhere and only specific staff and managers are aware of its location so that teachers cannot go their making any trouble.

Sounds like a very well oiled and particularly well though out criminal operation if you ask me, no doubt paying back handers to certain local government officials, as well as police, to turn a blind eye, as is the case with many things in China, corruption is high and you can do almost anything to anyone with the right amount of cash and contacts.

What is a throughing investigate ??? And how come nearly a year and a half later you are still posting this crap all over the net. You cannot sue someone for telling the truth, nor can you sue someone for giving their opinion on your company. You talk the biggest load of bullshit anyone has ever heard.

you post up fake reviews from fake teachers in pigeon English trying to defend yourselves and when people see right through that, get some new FT to translate your Chinglish into something grammatically correct and keep posting the same review over and over again.

I have not seen one independent review from a real teacher anywhere to date.

You're a shit outfit full of greedy people who act more like a mafia group than someone involved in the education section. You treat your teachers like shit and screw them over at the drop of a hat.

I really hope the statement about serious economic losses is true, I really do. Lets hope you suffer enough losses to finally put you out of business for good you set of robbing, cheating assholes.

Here's hoping you step out under a fast moving bus on Pukou Dao and get splattered along the street, I for one will dance, sing and throw a big party for the driver.

Re: Yuming Education

As a former teacher of this "school," I feel the duty to warn all teachers. The contract that they will have you sign is vague at best and gives the employer complete control of just about everything. (Not that they really intend on complying with this contract) First, Yu Ming Education Center is not a school at all. It is an agency that puts foreign teachers into Chinese public schools. Each class will contain 27- 36 children. In the contract, you waive your ability to do anything to remotely punish the children or even yell at the class when all the students are talking to get them to be quiet. You are to assign homework but your English class isn't actually a reported class so you do not have to give grades and if you do give grades, it doesn't matter. The older students have figured out that your class means absolutely nothing and they may choose to do whatever they want during your 40 minute class that meets twice a week. In the contract, it says that you will be given 2 vacations. Towards the end of the first semester that I worked for them, they said that the children were taking exams, so because my classes matter not at all to the schools in which I taught, I was put on a 7 week "vacation" without the ability to legally (-per contract) to find other ways to pay for rent. I was also given 2 day notice in January before this started, so there was no time to schedule such "vacation." The Chinese workers at Yu Ming speak poor English and when there is a task that they don't want to do they say that they cannot understand you. Yu Ming is a very curious business. They change offices often for untold reasons and every teaching assistant that I had there has said that they don't really trust their hiring process. (Something to do with them not paying taxes on Chinese employees work) this school rightfully shouldn't be trusted. When I signed with them, I signed a one year contract; when it was time for them to renew my visa, they only renewed it for six months and told me that they would renew it again in six months, of course that never happened because they had only planned for me to stay for 6 months. They have also held important visa/ residence permit documents which has cost me a small fortune to have dealt with. Another coworker, and friend of mine, has recently had to leave the country because Yu Ming has canceled a separate student visa (having no coorelation to Yu Ming at all) and withheld certain visa documents that would keep her from staying in this country. There is much, much, more to list. Yu Ming is not worth the trouble of screwing up your visa. This should go without saying, but Yu Ming is like almost every other Chinese private English program when it comes to organization: horrible.
