I dunno...I see a distinction between 'naivete', which indeed can be fun, and 'total ignorance', which can be disastrous. Coming to a place like China without doing some homework first is just ASKIN' to have yer ass handed to ya.

I don't dispute that there are bad people everywhere, but in your home country, or in most industries anywhere, would you really expect that 1 in 3 employers are going to literally steal money from you, have their local police buddies deport you to avoid having to give you your contractual pay and benefits, or the other major horrors seen in English schools? I would not, myself.
