Re: ESL student would like to study and work in the United States

For many years, if someone went to the United States to continue their education, then (except for the mandated, work-related practicum in some areas of study - like teaching or medicine) they were NOT allowed to work. At all. Not for pay. It said so, very clearly, on their Student Visa. And the conditions have become even more difficult and rigid for foreign students ever since 9/11, even for students from "friendly" Nations.
