Re: Teaching Abroad with Criminal Record?

These two things are probably not even on your record now, so I wouldn't even worry about them. God, I've known of teachers who were certified child molesters in their own country and where did I see them next? - in Japanese and Chinese classrooms! Forget about it, don't mention it and press on. 99% of us are certifiable (or should be anyway) so join the pack.

Teaching Abroad with Criminal Record?

I will be completing my master's degree in May and would like to consider teaching English abroad. My concern is that I won't be approved for a VISA because of my past record. I have two misdemeanors, one for possession of thc about 9 years ago, and one for a dui nearly 6 years ago.

Are these offences going to automatically deny my VISA?

Could you direct me to countries which may be more understanding of my situation?

Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
