Sorry to hear from you about what happened to you. I have settled in Canada but I was born there.
China is still a very poor country all over. After your long stay and seen those downtown sections, you must have also seen the suburbs, the countrysides. Due to the long anti-Jap war, the civil war, and the long blockage by the US, people suffered over a whole century. Not only the national construction,industry,economics, transportation, but also in education. When you went to the scenic places, you see most of the people are still poorly clad. Most of the people away from the big cities were poorly, or not, educated. And that's why "Foreign" teachers are invitated and welcomed to China. You are one of the ambassadors from those developed countries whom we would rather to wear old, mended pants to spend so much money (though it's still not much comparing to your standard of living) for your teaching, preaching and advice in order to keep up with the up-to-date to the global behavioral standards. Please forgive my people for those wrong doings, at the same time, please tell them, and demonstrate to them the correct way.You might be a minority, but the students you are teaching might, most part, be their teachers, and they'll learn indirectly from you. Please be patient and give them some time.

WOW! 'Tis bad enough you have to make sour jokes about the USA, you insipid a**hole, you have the temerity to cuss a lady on the board! As a gentleman (which, obviously, you are not) mentioned, adversity strikes us all in different ways, while some of us will react by laughing, others by crying, some by complaining, and others by drinking or indulging in drugs to excess (sound familiar, jerk off?). NONE OF US should dare consider ourselves judges of others' reactions, lest we face a similar fate. As for moaning, some people suffer to that extent, I fear, and whether or not it is deemed as "legitimate" in your f#@!^*g eyes, mate, that is surely not a basis for condemning anyone as a whiner and making a broad statement, "We don't need your sort here!" WHO the hell is the "WE" supposed to represent? Do you speak for everyone teaching ESL in China?
Finally, as for critiquing the young lady's having typed all CAPS, I would suggest your working on YOUR OWN bloody online English language presentation, Chum! As "THEY" say to jokers like you... "People who live in glass houses ... etc., etc." Yes, indeed, Pal... DO cool it!

BEEN IN ASIA 11 YEARS TEACHING. THE WORST IS CHINA-NOISY, CONSTRUCTION EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE TALK LOUD, VOMIT NEVER GETS CLEANED UP ON THE BUS, BUSES BREAK DOWN IN TUNNELS, PEOPLE ARE PANIC DRIVEN TO RUN TO GET ON BUSES, GO THROUGH IMMIGRATION, NO MANNERS, NO LINING UP, SPIT GETS ON ME ON A WINDY DAY, SPIT IN SWIMMING POOLS, DEAD DOGS ARE SLAUGHTERED IN MARKETS, HANG OUTSIDE OF RESTAURANTS, MEN DONT RESPECT WOMEN MOST MALE COWORKERS ARE NOT AS POLITE AS WOMEN COWORKERS. THEY DONT WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE EATING FOOD WITH THEIR HANDS LIKE SEAFOOD. NO SOAP IN THE SCHOOLS-EVEN AFTER SARS. 100.000 PEOPLE ARE KILLED LAST YR. 2004, DRIVERS ARE WRECKLESS. PEOPLE DON'T LOOK WHERE THEY ARE WALKING AND WALK JUST IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU HAVE TO STOP WALKING TO LET THEM GO. THEY STARE WITH NO CONCERN OF YOUR FEELINGS. THE KIDS DON'T ACT LIKE HUMAN BEINGS-LIKE WILD ANIMALS WITH NO UPBRINGING. OTHER COUNTRIES ARE MUCH BETTER. A MAN HIT ME IN THE ST. DEMANDING MY MONEY IN BEIJING IN THE DAY AND I CALLED FOR HELP BUT NO CHINESE WOULD INTERVENE! A CHINESE MAN TRIED TO RAPE MY TEACHER FRIEND BY BARGING INTO HER APT. WHEN SHE UNLOCKED THE DOOR. POLICE IN HELONGONG WOULD NOT BELIEVE HER STORY.
