Car Industry in China

Some recent developments in GM, Toyota and some other car makers have prompted me to open up a discussion on the topic as, to me, it would be interesting to gather the views of others. Further more, the Sichuan presence on this site and the failed Hammer purchase by some Chengdu copmany has also got me into posting this on. This is a sector that strengths a country's economy greatly, isn't it?

On Toyota, the recall is, in my view, driven by American government as they feel a lot of pain that their own brands have fallen.

On the GM's Hammer that was to be purchased by last Wednesday, which fell appart due to inability to acquire a local license, it was rather interesting to see. The central government apparently turned down the Sichaun applicant which then had to turn down the offer from Hammer.

What's happening to the car industry?

Cheers and beers to brewing :)
