There are obviously many advantages that foreigners with Chinese wives can enjoy in the confines of the family home. Most Chinese wives are great homemakers and see to their husbands' every need. But such pampered foreigners and those contemplating marriage to a Chinese lady should bear in mind that some homeland governments will freeze their pensions as soon as the state pension is claimed if they stay in China with their Chinese wives after the official retirement age.
The British govt, for example, was taken to court by a group of British expats residing in various countries whose governments had no agreement by treaty re the reciprocation of the non-freezing of state pension payments claimed by their expats. Though the judge agreed there was an obvious case to be answered, he ruled in favour of said government on the grounds that its defence that it couldn't afford to make the increased payments if pensions were to be unfrozen was a valid one.
That means as a British expat in China, your state pension payments will not increase, unlike pensioners back home, whose pensions will increase roughly in line with inflation. Over time, you'll lose out considerably.
