Re: a real rollercoaster ride of ups and downs?!
If a teacher has a student girlfriend then that is not the business of ANY
school or university, unless the girl is from an FT's own classes. Some
universites have rules in regard to student-teacher relationships, most do
not, IMHO it is not the business of any school to monitor the
romantic/relationship activities of any teacher.
Seriously man, I'm not on your back here. I'm an FT like you, I'm sorry if I gave you the impression I'm against you, I am not.
As you say unless the girl is from an FT's own classes, but as we know only too well, we are being watched and gossiped about. I would therefore be very wary of engaging in ANY relationship with a student, platonic OR romantic, regardless of them being in my class or not.
In our opinion, yes, it is none of the school's business to give a shit about what we are doing...but in reality? Well, as we know one hand washes the other round these parts.
Peace and colds,
Al
