This applies only with respect to the "Mandy" poster here on this board!

I disagree, I think it applies to many here on this board.

Re: Spying on Students?

I think for personal safety all foreigners in China should follow the example of

  • the three wise monkeys
  • re this subject, ie:

Eyes grasp no form, free away from prejudices.
Ears make no distinction, spared futile chasing.
Mouth keeps silent, no contending pro and con.
Three monkeys set model of profound wisdom.

The three wise monkeys are folk characters that probably appeared first in China, but are well known throughout Asia.

  • One monkey covers his eyes, so he can not see evil. The second monkey covers his ears, so he can not hear evil. The other monkey covers his mouth, so he can not speak evil.

What you say is certainly possible. But I find it highly unlikely that Dave would just come on the discussion board to exaggerate and make trouble. He's doing this for a reason. We're all saying what we're saying because we feel concerned about the possibility of this going on. Considering the cases of abuse of companies across ALL types of businesses in China the fact that this could be happening wouldn't be a surprise to us. We are confident enough to put forth our good will and trust Dave on what he's saying. As for the misconduct issue to me that's merely a tool for a corrupt beaurocracy to use against people who speak out. We shouldn't take away an individual's rights to draw conclusions even if they may just be his. It's not like there has been any evidence to NOT support what he's saying as untrue.
