As for the second part, I think a lot of Chinese mother's are in for a big shock if they believe their daughters under 30 in modern China are virgins:-)
Gotta agree with you there. Mothers of women that age who still believe their daughters are virgins, well they are living in fantasy land.

This seems to be the way in "modern" China, a man must be "rich and powerful" or he is not a marriage prospect. A woman must be under thirty, never married, can't earn more than the man, she should be a virgin.
Silverboy, the first part I totally agree with. It doesn't matter how the guy is rich and powerful, just that he is. A good guy like a policeman or teacher earning little doesn't count.
