@ Sanguine, some don't even have a degree! I know one guy from near me in England, been out in China nigh on 6 years now, no degree, was kicked out of the army in the UK, and still gets hired because he is "handsome"....

TAs are mostly untrained staff in training centres, and you should not give anything on their "advice" as they all lack the essential expertise!
A lot of English teachers here in China also lack the "essential" expertise, as you call it. Part of the problem with accepting someone who has a degree in anything, and where no teaching experience or training is required.
