Re ARA recruitment Thailand - SCAM

Deffo a scam IMHO...

Avoid paying a deposit up front, esp. a relatively large amount like that...

And don't be fooled by Thailand being the land of smiles, while you are dining and downing the tiger beer in one room, in the next room they may be discussing how to cheat you and cut down your pay on your contract in the next room.

Personally I would avoid Thailand as a place to work, but I have heard others love it.

GL, Merry xmas,

ARA recruitment Thailand - SCAM

ARA recruitment in Thailand ask prospective teachers to pay a deposit up front and give some story about having been let down by previous potential teachers and ending up out of pocket - good sob story - however remember the golden rule never pay for recruitment - this ARA mob and a recruiter calling himself 'Christian Phillips' are nothing more than A SCAM - two of my friends broke the 'golden rule' and lost a lot of money - this Christian Phillips is good (I've seen his emails) NEVER send money to a recruiter.

Here is his opening email:-

Hello and good day from the Kingdom of Thailand, We would like to thank you for showing interest in working with us.
I have listed a complete list of all our available positions below so you can see all your options If your interested please contact us.
I have attached a ARA application along with some information regarding our transportation option, When returning the application please include a good time to contact you so we can conduct a short telephone interview. Please include the following: scanned copies of all degrees, transcripts, any relevant certificates. Information page of your passport and recent photograph. If you havn't already sent it to us.

Before we proceed I just want to provide you with all the information you will need to make a decision.

Since you are applying outside of the Kingdom of Thailand we must retain a refundable security deposit in the sum of 20,000THB (approx. 600USD) This is a guarantee to us as well as our clients (schools). Once you have arrived and signed the original contract you would receive a full refund of your deposit unless you choose to take advantage of our transportation option which the details are enclosed in this email. In the past we didn't require a deposit but last year we had 17 applicants fail to report to the posts they applied for. Our company lost approx. 1350USD per applicant and our clients (schools) fined us 1 months salary per applicant. We would no longer be able to provide a service if we allowed this to continued so its now mandatory for us as well as our clients to retain a refundable security deposit in order to process applications, contracts and legal documents. Originally we retained a deposit equal to 1 months salary but we felt that it was a bit unreasonable so we reduced it down to only 20,000THB.

If you should feel uncomfortable in submitting a deposit you are more than welcome to apply in person and follow our policy regarding applicants residing in Thailand, However we would not be able to guarantee a position until you actually arrived in our office and we would not be able to offer our transportation option. In addition you would have pay for all your legal fees and visa processing to the necessary agencies and submit your receipts for reimbursement.

If your interested in any of our positions please let us know as soon as possible and if your not please be kind and let us know so we can remove you from our list of applicants.

Regards
Christian Phillips
