Yes, it is discourteous not to reply in the first place.

That's the whole point. Public university jobs are 10 a penny in China, it's the rudeness of the man in not even sending a polite reply, even to confirm the application is not wanted...

I don't take crap from anybody. Never been a grovelling weasel, but that term is bandied about with regularity on here and applied to anyone who has an alternative view.

This whole thread is old. It was started by someone I am convinced is posting again under another alias.
Starts off with an email job application and text message that both get no response. Then suspicion of university FAO wanting to meet beautiful females or the whole thing is a scam. Turnoi advises it is not a conspiracy just incompetence. Pleasant posts are exchanged between the two. Two weeks later Ivan has taken a better job. IM does not get support from Turnoi about FAOs so the relationship
