Re pay raise

So if you are saying 10,000 plus paid holidays, free flat, air fare for 17 hours or less (including bloody preparation) i agree with you totally, which means i shall ask for another 2000 from next year.

I didn't mean at a BMW boss owning training centre...I was referring to the public sector, sorry for any confusion in advance!

The public schools/unis can pay it, it is just they choose not to. Get what you are worth from them...

Re pay raise

Personally, I wouldn't accept less than 5,500 because that is what the chinese teachers earn...we also don't receive a pension, medical insurance et al....no teacher should work for less than 10,000 rmb a month in China, at all.

You are right; however, you do want to get paid for the holidays as well, because if you only end up getting paid for 7 months out of 12 then you're worse off than you would be on 4500+holiday full pay. This little simple arithmetic seems to elude FT's working for 10,000 at training centres....AND they often work three times as many hours as they would do in a university.
