Exactly so, and perfect for me given that nobody's putting me under much pressure at work while I can enjoy a higher standard of living than being a beleaguered and frustrated teacher back home. Foreigners who tell us that we rural foreign teachers are being paid a pittance insult our intelligence. And most of those guys have never been teachers back home! Yet they spout nonsense. If we were on the breadline here, our Chinese colleagues would be in dire straits, as they're on 1/2 our pay or less. As for touring, it's not my scene. A waste of money in my opinion.
And I think big cities suck, the people there are mainly unfriendly snobs. So terrible!

Salary varies form different ciyies in China due to unbalanced economy and consumption. Monthly 4500 RMB with free accommodation arranged for oral english teacher of 18 hours /week in rural areas is a common practice. In big china cities ,higner salary is expected in training centers and schools , but it also means higher teaching load and more strict supervision. How could we imagine the teacher of 15000 rmb/month has same easy life as one of 7400RMB/month,who has more leasure time to tour tour China.

You're not serious, are you? I doubt you've ever had a working class job back in England, else you'd know what a pittance ACTUALLY is in terms of its local spending power! 4500 RMB a month in China for what is basically parttime work with free accommodation is NO PITTANCE!
