I'm pretty sure we have met before. It must have been at a pub in Yuncheng some years ago, the year of 1 world 1 (pipe)dream to be precise. I do not wish to discuss where I am at present, and what I'm doing there, on a PUBLIC forum,I think you'll understand.
Suffice it to say I'm still working on the same type of visa as before, but not there, and Mr River is still the guiding light there, I have it on good authority about that - from the horse's mouth, in fact.
Am I right in saying you're a Jamsaican. I can't recall our one and only meeting in detail - perhaps my mind was befuddled then because of having drunk too much baijou with Max that evening.
Anyway, thx for the thx!
Cheers foxy!
The movies tip is indeed appreciated!
Thanks for the extensive information, foxy - I guess you're still teaching in Shanxi. That said, is Mr River still calling the shots at Yuncheng IELTS?
Now to the main point of my reply. I've found the BBC iplayer extremely slow to download when tuning in for English football among other BBC World Service radio programmes. Maybe some readers, including yourself, are unaware you can get two alternative direct links to the radio station by visiting the link below. Interestingly, the content on one of them is sometimes different, though still of BBCWS origin. It is kindly provided by an American radio station, Vermont Public Radio. Incidentally, both of the alternative links I've mentioned are running at around 20 kb/sec, considerably less than the BBC's iplayer.

Click on the first one for the Shanghai Sports TV Station, and on the second one for all CCTV stations and a few regional Chinese ones. You'll need to download a player to enable the second site to stream. Both sites provide smooth streaming via modem dial-up here in a Chinese backwater among the coal!

Now for movies:
a) Copy the address below into a google search engine.
http://video.baidu.com/movie/
b) Then click on the link below:
百度视频_电影分类列表
c) Then click on individual entries in the second and third (short) paragraphs on the left. They are as below. Click on each photo, and later on the page numbers at the foot of the webpage to view more photos that introduce movies. But not every photo will provide a full-length movie after it has been clicked on. Many movies are in English, and there are many pages, twelve distinct movie photos to each page. The words in red are paragraph headings, and don't respond to being clicked on.
