A union would need:
--clear purpose, goals and a charter, and active means to further them
--a website and other methods of promotion
--a strong membership base b
--accreditation standards for schools
--a source of income (doesn't need to be much)
--a strong board of directors (probably the founding members at first)
--regular meetings and forums (online or otherwise)
--support for members
I totally support a "China Foreign Teachers union" or something of that nature.

I have no idea how. I will look into it though, that is for sure.
In a lot of cases we are chewed up and spat out at the whim of our employers. I think that it is high time ESL Teachers had a voice, a body to support and protect them.
Good idea! And how to get started?
Dose anyone think that an ESL Teacher's Union would be of use? If so, how the hell would a person get one started??? Lets face facts, ESL Teachers are not treated too well around the world. In a lot of cases we are chewed up and spat out at the whim of our employers. I think that it is high time ESL Teachers had a voice, a body to support and protect them.
