Re: Teaching ESL in China

I did see time and the economist for sale in GZ, not sure about the other 2. As for the internet, yes it is heavily censored with many many sites blocked for reasons unknown to a thinking person, such as imdb site. However, there is a very simple way to get around this problem, pay $20 for 3 months for a proxy server and have access to everything we demand from the free world. To add to that I would say that if you are considering working in china then magazines and their availability are the lest of your concerns.

Teaching ESL in China

Looking seriously at the proposition on teaching ESL in China I'm hoping someone can tell me about how serious the censorship actually is in China. I know I can't glean U.S. and other world news from the internet. So what about periodicals like Time, Newsweek, Atlantic, the Economist, etc? Is it against Chinese law that I have those magazines sent to me in China?

Thanks,

Dennis
