I have been told that Wikipedia isn’t an acceptable reference in academic writing. To my knowledge, it is acceptable in most of the foundation courses for higher education abroad; however, I understand well enough that depending on goals of the assignments, non-academic references are unsuitable in varieties of academic essays at universities in the US or Canada.
