[edited]EF placement testing didn't start easing up "under me" or farce AOM Mark R but 'cause of the demands of EF franchisees in China. Had EF headlessquarters not agreed to it, the 50 or so centers at that time would probably have pulled out of their franchise agreements which would've been a blow to the local market without much of the clues how to learn English. Few, if any, had their own adult brand name academic products and more than adequate young learners' products alongside the courses and few, if any, offered so plentiful supplementary material as EF had then. EF still has it although really badly managed by some greatly corrupt franchisees that've got together on a sabotage. I've been there and I've seen it, even in the Shanghai's headquarters.

[edited]What the filthy rich locals have done to EF, they've done just about everywhere in their own country.
