Re: Power struggle and power structure

In the name of progress is the official line for all imperialists inc. of course the British. Using Kenya again as an example the British wanted to build a railroad from Kampala (Uganda) to Mombasa on the coast through the area of Kenya I lived which is inhabited by the Nandi tribe. The leader of the Nandi tribe at that time was said to have powers with which he could see the future and had foretold of a great snake (the railroad) that would divide their lands and therefore he violently opposed the British until such time that the British invited him to peace talks and promptly murdered him. The wheel of history continues to turn ...........

Re: Power struggle and power structure

Desert area and land without water where nothing grows is one o the biggest problems there. There are areas like that also in Kenya. People are much poorer there than in China (and also here in Nepal), and yet, they live their lives, are happy and sad - just like human beings as ourselves.

Indeed, people find a way. And not all of Xinjiang is poor also, they did fine for thousands of years before the "han zu" came along with their culture. Did anyone stop to ask the uighurs if they wanted ring roads, skyscrapers, pollution, and the benefits of "progress" the CCP so proud as a peacock likes to tout as their official line?
