Re: Another QQIntl installation for Linux Mint/Ubuntu

What's with all the edits?

Talk of Tencent QQ does tend to raise hackles; it's a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.

What's with all the edits? Though eslteachersboard was uncensored. Guess it's not like that anymore. Pity.

Sounds like you need cheering up, so here is some music from Ian a fellow FT and a fellow poster to boot. I know he would have been happy to think that people still listen to his music, which was very good- he used to love China- but I don't love him because he still owes me for half pound of butter and a slab of cheese which I sent half way across China for him, hahaha-only joking he was a superb character and an amazing FT. http://www.youtube.com/user/teacherian/videos "I love it when i made you laugh is good" but he wrote a lot of stuff.

You get it, got it, good, don't tell me what to do, in that arrogant tone.

Getting it, got it yet, great!

In fact, in the hope that you will stop bullying me I send you the 4 sequences(if I did it properly) for putting QQIntl folder into Longene. , 明白吗, 知道怎么做吗 ?

Have another go, only got one screenshot on last time. Don't forget, getting QQ working is merely a means to get them lovely Chinese girls between your sheets; otherwise it's just a nasty smell in your flat.

Not picking on you, but tencent is a software company, BT is a Telco, a whole gulf of a difference.... DEAR BOY!

Re: Another QQIntl installation for Linux Mint/Ubuntu

It has nothing to do with BT and everything to do with Tencent.

Why not email them? One is a HARDWARE issue in the UK, the other is a software issue, that by golly, yes, affects FT's using linux in english in CHINA.

[edited]

Why are you always picking on me? guffaw guffaw. Nope all software-if BT send you all the gear for your Broadband, they will include a software cd, to be used on Windoze only. Anyway, did you follow my instructions for getting QQIntl up and running on Linux? Any help I can give you please bark...maybe you would like blow by blow screenshots-I can do that?

Re: Another QQIntl installation for Linux Mint/Ubuntu

Tis is all very confusing, is it not, dui bu dui?

If tencent could just release a .deb file that could be installed on debian linux easily, problems would be solved. I installed QQ for Android, so it seems development for everything but english language is at full pelt. Most don't have time to pig around, but thanks for the guide,it is helpful, just I feel most can't be arsed with it.

I thought you'd be interested in my little tutorial. Well, it's not only Tencent who leave you looking for complicated way of achieving the same is it? I had to install Linphone to use internetcalls.com.... you try and use wine to get Western .exe software to work on Linux. Don't just blame the Chinese hahaha

Re: Another QQIntl installation for Linux Mint/Ubuntu

OOP's I meant to say open longene QQ with gdebi package installer. I should say that in Ubuntu the software manager likes to install stuff for you but don't let it in this case, but first of all before you do anything install 'gdebi package installer' from said software manager/centre. With Mint you have gdebi already. Ge it? Got it? Good

Another QQIntl installation for Linux Mint/Ubuntu

I've already posted a tutorial of putting QQ in English on Linux but here here is a better one that'll allow you to use Linux Firefox or Chromium instead of a not too stable wine Internet Explorer. If you're a gay-dog FT who likes to communicate with Chinese gals you will need QQ. The problem can be if you use QQ on virus infested Windoze z z z z.

So, what do you need? You need to download QQIntl1.5. Also download this http://www.longene.org/download/WineQQ2012-20120531-Longene.deb

Open QQIntl1.5 with 'archive manager' and find the folder 'QQIntl' It'll be green-coloured in the Mint environment but red in Ubuntu- drag the scoundrel onto the desk top to the side of the screen and leave for now. Now open the QQ longene download with package manager(you will have to install package manager in Ubuntu from software centre) and when a window eventually comes up to sign into QQ just close it .

Now open your home folder- go to 'view' and select 'hidden files' and find the QQ longene one-open it and click 'drive-c'- then click 'program files' then click 'tencent' and you will find one QQ folder there- so now drag the QQIntl folder from you desktop into that box-so now you have two folder- close it now.

Open up 'terminal' and enter this command line pluma /opt/longene/qq2012/qq2012.sh for Linux Mint, BUT this one for Ubuntu gedit /opt/longene/qq2012/qq2012.sh

Now an editor will open But it may be blank, so click on 'open' and find qq.sh file- that will open a script, so now do this, changing it in two lines to include Intl-

In the editor find this line

INEDEBUG=-all env WINEPREFIX=$WINEPREFIX_DIR $WINE_DIR/bin/wine $WINEPREFIX_DIR/drive_c/Program\ Files/Tencent/QQ/Bin/QQ.exe

and change it to

INEDEBUG=-all env WINEPREFIX=$WINEPREFIX_DIR $WINE_DIR/bin/wine $WINEPREFIX_DIR/drive_c/Program\ Files/Tencent/QQIntl/Bin/QQ.exe

do the same with this other line:

env WINEPREFIX=$WINEPREFIX_DIR $WINE_DIR/bin/wine $WINEPREFIX_DIR/drive_c/Program\ Files/Tencent/QQ/Bin/QQ.exe >$HOME/Longene_qq2012.log 2>&1

change to:

env WINEPREFIX=$WINEPREFIX_DIR $WINE_DIR/bin/wine $WINEPREFIX_DIR/drive_c/Program\ Files/Tencent/QQIntl/Bin/QQ.exe >$HOME/Longene_qq2012.log 2>&1

You can now open QQIntl using the QQ icon that was supposed to be for QQ longene.

Now, that was a piece of piss, no? A word of caution if you already have wine/winetricks on your Linux get shot of it, unless you want Internet Explorer to open up all your links people send to you over QQ- not forgetting to delete the wine folder in the hidden ones.
